Is it ever okay to eat 1000+ calories in one meal?

To preface this, I’ll say that I rarely go out to eat (less than once per month). However, when I do go out I find myself quickly giving into cravings and indulging myself. Yesterday on my way home from college for spring break I found myself at a Bob Evans. While ordering I didn’t put too much consideration into calories, but then after I finished eating I started logging what I ate and I got to about 1100 before I stopped counting. I just wanted to know, is this ever okay?
