To 3D print on a Creality Ender 3 using Cura, add the printer via “Add a non-networked printer” > “Creality3D” > “Ender-3” (or Pro/V2). Use standard 0.2mm layer height and 200°C/60°C temps for PLA, then slice and save the G-code to an SD card. Level the bed, load filament, and print.

Key Setup & Printing Steps
Printer Configuration: Open Cura, navigate to Settings > Printer > Add Printer…, select Other, then choose Creality Ender 3. For V3 KE models, adjust build plate height to 240mm.
Recommended Settings: Use the built-in, pre-configured profiles for the Ender 3, as they are reliable. Standard quality is 0.2mm layer height, with 20% infill.
Material Settings: For PLA, set the hotend to 200-215°C and the bed to 50-65°C.
Slicing & Export: After slicing, save the G-code to an SD card for printing.
Printing Prep: Ensure the print bed is leveled (Auto-level if equipped).
Tips for Success
Supports: Enable supports if the model has steep overhangs, with “Tree” supports being a good option.
Adhesion: Use a “Skirt” for general printing or a “Brim” if the print has low surface area.
Speed: A reliable starting print speed is 50 mm/s.

Best retraction settings in Cura for Ender 3?
Hi, I created a profile for my stock Ender 3 in Cura and by now I´m using these settings regarding retraction:
-
A 6,5mm retraction distance.
-
45mm retraction speed.
-
0 retraction extra prime amount.
-
1.5mm retraction minimum travel.
-
100 maximum retraction count.
-
10 minimum extrusion distance window.
-
Retract before outer wall, avoid printed parts when travel and avoid supports when travelling (checked).
-
0.625mm travel avoid distance.
-
0mm layer start for X and Y
-
Z hop when retracted (unchecked).
I´m still getting strings, is there setting I should change?
Thanks.
