The man you meet at 19
“Heard of the 19th love theory? The man you meet at 19 will be the worst man of your life. He is the one who will break your life. He will be the one to traumatize you forever”—so they say.

There’s this popular theory that says the boy you meet or date at 19 will be the worst and most manipulative person you’ll ever encounter.

Now, I can’t confirm or deny this because, well, I haven’t hit 19 yet (shocked right?). But guess what? That milestone is just around the corner, and this is one thing I’m actively hoping I never have to experience.

Not a valid reason, but one of the many reasons I’ve avoided relationships all these years is that I really don’t have the energy for all the emotional drama y’all seem to go through. I have enough on my plate to always deal with.I mean, who has time for heartbreak and constant overthinking when life is already hectic enough? My plate is full, thank you very much.

But here’s the funny thing: no matter how careful you are, the heart has a way of ignoring all your plans. It’s like it has a mind of its own, ready to pull you into the exact situations you swore you’d avoid. Life no too send you like dat. I learnt this the hard way. I just hope my heart doesn’t choose 19 to betray me, because trust me, I am not ready for the chaos.

Based on this crazy theory, I swore to myself that I would steer clear of men this year. (And yes, I know what you’re thinking: “Ife, didn’t you say this last year?” I did. But can you blame me?

not totally related, but what’s with men and their boring ass “pickup line?”

Back to this, I know it’s not going to be easy, but I’m always up for a challenge. I know you are like, “Ife, what about that boy that…” Well, my birthday isn’t until March, so technically, I’m giving myself January and February as cheat months😙😉.

But here’s the thing: I don’t want to base my decisions solely on a theory I found on the internet. That’s where you come in. I want to write a piece based on people’s experiences.

Do you think this theory holds any truth? Or is it just another wild idea people came up with to scare us? I want to hear from you.

If you have a story about your love life or dating experience at 19, please share it with me! Whether it was the best time of your life, the most chaotic, or somewhere in between, I’m all ears. You can stay anonymous if you’d prefer—I just want to understand how real (or not) this theory is.

Drop a comment below, send a text, or slide into dm on Instagram if you are in. I will be updating y’all next week.

P.S. If you see me talking to anyone before March, remember: Cheat months. 😉

(Don’t for get to encourage me by dropping a like, comments, you get the gist sha)
