In the late stages of the “67” meme, a new number, “61,” has begun its own ascension to internet fame. But the “61 Meme” is a bit different, as it’s caked in more layers of irony than its ancestor.

The “61 Meme” started when a guy on TikTok recorded himself squatting up and down in a bathroom and doing a fast-paced version of the 67 hand gesture. He’s seen looking at the viewer with his eyes bulging and repeating, ominously, “Six, one, six, one.”

The TikToker’s videos have since seeped into Twitter / X, where the “six-one” meme is truly becoming a full-blown trend. But who is the original TikTok creator behind it?

Let’s explain this weird “61 Meme,” where it came from, and why it’s relevant on the internet today.

Where Did The ’61’ Meme Come From?

Last Thursday, October 16th, 2025, a TikToker named Spartan Swot (@spartanswotuae) posted a video of himself in a bathroom, recorded with a low-quality camera. His tall frame is seen squatting up and down as he shifts his hands rapidly. At the same time, he’s heard repeating, “Six, one, six, one.”

The video was spoofing the well-known “67 meme.” Spartan Swot’s variation was a bastardization of the form. He basically chose another number in the sixties and went for it.

In a second video, the TikToker bulged his eyes out more. It gave the whole thing a creepier vibe, reminiscent of the uncanny “SCP-067” monstrosity. This second video has arguably become more well-known than the first.

Throughout the reign of the “67” meme, others have tried to jumpstart new number-based memes, including “41” and “93.”

The “four-one” meme was the first child of the original and had its fair share of praise from members of TikTok’s “Niche Community” (or NicheTok).

Meanwhile, the “nine-three” meme was kind of the runt of the group, as some criticized it for being too forced.

The “61” meme, however, seems to be holding water for now, as it’s spreading organically across the web in various memetic forms.

Who Is The ’61’ Meme Creator, TikToker Spartan Swot?

TikToker Spartan Swot posts on the account @spartanswotuae. He’s been sharing videos there since August 2025. Thus, his digital footprint is rather sparse at the moment, as he only started posting a few months ago.

Since then, he’s focused on sharing cringe content, which seems to be intentionally so.

For instance, he started by saying, “six-seven,” in a slew of videos from September. In all of them, he speaks in what seems to be an African accent.

How Is The ’61’ Meme Being Used Online?

Although Spartan Swot’s “61” videos gained attention on TikTok, the meme truly came alive when it spread to Twitter, or X. Several users like @seiyaposting and @blephin_ reposted the “61” memes this past week, sparking a slew of new posts referencing it.

The “61” Twitter trend from the past few days involves finding tweets that have used “61” and quote-tweeting them with either the “61” video or a GIF of it.

For instance, when the prominent X account Pop Crave wished former U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris a happy 61st birthday, X user @A21Majin was quick to post Spartan Swot’s video.

The same phenomenon has since occurred to both actor Keanu Reeves and the late Charlie Kirk in posts from X users @gothgirlweed and @sigmaphonkedits.

But why is the 61 meme resonating with people? It’s hard to say.

Perhaps it has to do with the original video. There’s something about the setting, the subject and the subject’s demeanor that burns a hole in the viewer’s mind. Plus, the rhythmic chanting of “six, one,” is like a full breakdown of the “67” meme, which has dominated the public’s interest this year.

Spreading the “61” meme instead of the “67” meme can be read as a retaliatory action from those who are tired of the predecessor.

Alternatively, the “61” meme is an homage to when “67” was still funny in the eyes of the internet’s most irony-poisoned youth.
